Who is Jono David?

I am a British-American (born, May 1966) freelance photographer and writer based in Osaka, Japan. Though I specialize in documenting Jewish communities in photos and words, I have written about and photographed topics as wide-ranging as travel, World War II history, dolls, Japanese shochu alcohol, and the human body. I have been inspired by experiences in the more than 125 countries and territories I have visited.

My photographs and articles have appeared in a number of notable newspapers and magazines including: Hadassah Magazine, Forward, Jewish Times Asia, The Jewish Telegraph, The Australia Jewish News, The Chicago Jewish News, The Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, JewishMag, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The Wall Street Journal, The Miami Herald, The Star Ledger, The Seattle Times, The Toronto Sun, The New Zealand Herald, The South China Morning Post, The Scotsman, The Japan Times, Photo Life Magazine, Popular Photography Magazine, Polynesia Airlines In-flight Magazine, Doll Magazine, Doll Making Magazine, KansaiScene, and Living Abroad Magazine. My photographs have also been published in more than a dozen books, including: The Knell of Parting Day; Encyclopedia of the Jewish Diaspora; Belisario: Sketches of Character; Looks Good Tastes Great: Jewish Culinary Favourites; The Holocaust: A Guide for Students and Teachers; Alchemy of the Soul: The Life of Artist Kalman Aron After the Holocaust; Newport Jewry and the Touro Synagogue.
